I substituted for the same teacher this Friday. I was a little more anxious than I had been the first time because we were working on a sound rotation for science and I was no anticipating all of the noise, but it went suprisily well. It was possibly quieter than the first day, although that was in part to the teacher having a fun science activity planned if she got a good report and the fact I gave very specific instructions and warnings if these instructions weren’t fallowed. There were four sections the quietest one being the rube band guitars. One of the instruments we used is called a ‘boomwaker’ and much to the kid’s pleasure you have to bonk yourself on the head to hear it resonate and get the pitch. This is the one I gave the most explicit instructions on. NO hitting anyone else on the head, they are not light sabers, swards or anything of that sort!! I only had to give out a few reminders :) It went really well. I was pleased.
During my prep time I was interviewed for three different positions. One at the school I was subbing for and the other two positions are at the other middle school in town. It was a little bit harder than a normal interview because they asked me very open vague questions since they were trying to cover three positions in on interview so I tried to give them very pointed answers as best as I could. I wasn’t sure how it went. They told me I wouldn’t hear back from them for a few days, but low and behold I got a call right after work and I got one of the positions. YAY! I am supper excited. I will be working at the same school as my aunt. Now I won’t feel so guilty when I am at home and Anton is putting in such long work days. My days will still be much shorter than his, but I will be paid well and I still have my other part time job a week out of the month. Anyway that’s all my news for now. :)
