Yesterday Paul and I made our weekly 'we have to move the car' shopping trip. Our poor car has desperately needed an oil change since we drove across the country and I finally looked around until I found a good deal. We took it into Midas which thankfully was pretty close to Costco. They told me that it would only be a twenty minute wait when I called in last week, so I planned out the morning accordingly to get us back home by one o'clock, when our street opens back up for parking.
We took off at around eleven. It took a little longer to get there than I thought it would and just to impress you all I should mention I looked at a map before leaving and didn't even take my gps as back up. Go me! :) I was thinking ten extra minutes of driving, no big deal, but when we got there we had an extra twenty minutes to wait before they could even get our car in the garage and then with the free tire rotation and stuff that was on my coupon, we were there for an hour. Paul was a champ!! I brought him a few healthy snakes since it would be running into his normal lunch time and he just sat there and ate them. Once he was done eating I let him down from his seat and he romped around their little waiting room saying hi to everyone and asking me over and over to tap the little doggy on a dash board's head, he would then laugh and bark.
We didn't even get to Costco until twelve forty (the time I had calculated to head back home). So I tried to rush our way through as quickly as possible, which of course means I forgot things. And it was honestly the busiest I have seen this Costco, which meant the lines were long and the guy right in front of us ended up having some sort of problem which delayed the whole line. Boo.
We didn't even start our drive back until one thirty and I soon found out that there was a slight glitch in my planned route back home, so I had to take a detour and thankfully didn't get lost! And low and behold there were two parking spots open on our street and praise the hevans the one I got didn't require parallel parking. Huzzah! Paul had fallen asleep almost immediately in the car and since I knew he wouldn't go back to sleep if I woke him up I rolled down the windows and hoped that the milk that hadn't fit into the cooler with my other cold items wouldn't go bad.
By three o'clock that afternoon and after three heavy trips up the stairs, Paul and I had successfully gotten the oil changed, got most of our grocery list, and found a wonderful parking spot that we will greedily claim until next week.

Sounds like you're conquering Brooklyn one parking spot at a time!
ReplyDeleteI love this :) Not that it's such an ordeal just to get things done, but that you are such a champ! And that your little boy is uber-champ, too! I adore you.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how long things take sometimes...this made me chuckle!
